Many of us in the Armed Forces have had a dog as a pet and are fully conscious of his/her affection, support and faithfulness. We know that ‘dogs do speak, but only to those who care to listen’. We all recall Phantom comics, where Phantom and Devil, his canine companion communicate effectively. But dogs are not just suitable pets, they have tremendous utility, especially in the Armed Forces. Most modern armies have K9 or canine units, and all police forces retain trained dogs. The versatility of dogs is amazing, they can be trusted completely.
