Brig Sanjay Kumar Thapa,SM (Retd) joined NDA in July 1977. He has served with 9 PARA (SF) and uniquely qualified in all the training skills desired for special operations. He has extensive operational experience. He has also been an assessor in the Services Selection Centre (South) at Bengaluru, prior to his superannuation in June 2015. Thereafter, he was absorbed in the CRPF to establish the CoBRA School,(a specialised institution purely for selection and training of CRPF personnel to contest the Maoists in central India) at Belagavi in Karnataka.
