Medals & Ribbons is a quarterly defence related magazine primarily focused on bringing forth stories of valour and interest from the Armed Forces. Medals & Ribbons symbolise Glory & Pride to the men in uniform, hence this magazine and digital platform will host positive content reflecting the “Service Before Self” ethos of the Armed Forces.

Besides recounting anecdotes, incidents and stories of past warriors, the platform will host articles relevant to veterans and topics of current discourse. We will also include stories that would interest the young readers, and provide them with an insight into what life in the Armed Forces is about. We would also include information to nudge the young readers towards considering Armed Forces as an excellent career choice.

Medals & Ribbons will carry pragmatic, realistic content about actions and events related to our warriors, and guide the readers towards rational judgement related to the topics covered. The magazine is a Radiant Group initiative and was launched on 26 September 2020 by Col David Devasahayam (Retd), Chairman – cum – Managing Director of the Radiant Group. For him, this venture is a ‘labour of love’, a recognition of the values, bonds and spirit that he imbibed while in the Army. The Radiant Group employs a number of ex-servicemen, and this platform will enhance the connection between the Group and the Armed Forces Fraternity.

The Editorial Team is led by Lt Gen J S Sandhu, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, VSM (Retd), a well-regarded ‘scholar warrior’. He has held several challenging assignments when in uniform, including command of all Army troops in Kashmir, after the Burhan Wani agitation in 2016. He has also handled the sensitive appointment of Military Secretary prior to his superannuation in 2019.

Lt Gen D Anbu, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, YSM, SM (Retd), former VCOAS and Army Commander Northern Command in J&K is also an exceptional leader and role model, who has held challenging command assignments in Kashmir and on the borders with China.

Air Marshal Harpal Singh, PVSM, AVSM, VM, former DG (Inspections & Safety) has been a versatile fighter pilot, with about 2500 hours of flying experience, mostly on MiG aircraft. He has held sensitive appointments dealing with deployment of strategic assets too.

Rear Adm SY Shrikhande, AVSM (Retd) is a strategic analyst of repute, and is involved in teaching strategy formulation, operational art and such other subjects. He writes regularly for a few Indian and foreign organisations.

Dr Renuka David, the Creative Editor of Medals & Ribbons dons many avatars as a wellness expert (drrenukadavid.com) entrepreneur, doctor, television show host and professional speaker. She is the managing director of Radiant Medical Services and founder of the Radiant Wellness Conclave.

Ms Neeti Jaychander, Vice President Design and Contents has vast experience as a writer, journalist and was the Senior Regional Editor (South India) at FEMINA for over a decade.

Capt RG Prakasam (Retd) was commissioned into Regiment of Artillery, and was amongst the youngest from his course to complete the Long Gunnery Staff Course. In his second innings, he has been a dynamic entrepreneur, with an experience of handling start up companies for over 20 years.

These esteemed members of the Editorial Team are erudite leaders, analysts and professionally renowned too. The team would indeed helm the magazine and digital platform competently.
