Major General Ashok K Dhingra
was commissioned into 1 PARA (SF) in
1983 and has varied operational
experiences, including in Sri Lanka
(IPKF) where he was severely wounded. He
was commanding the Battalion, when Capt
Mohit Sharma volunteered to join the SF
in 2002. Major General Dhingra has
commanded the Parachute Brigade, the
Parachute Regimental Training Centre, a
Division on LAC and has served as the
Defence & Military Attache to USA in
his illustrious service. Prior to retirement
last year, he laid the foundations of the
Special Operations Division integrating the
SF of the three Services.
