an alumnus of NDA, was commissioned into 72 Armoured Regiment in June 1980. He has attended the prestigious Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, and has written for various defence & strategic publications. After taking premature retirement at 23 years service, he worked as a strategic aide to Major Jaswant Singh, the then Cabinet Minister for Finance, where he was exposed to governance and policymaking at apex level. With the change of government at the Centre he continued as an adviser to Minister Singh, in his new role as leader of the opposition at the Rajya Sabha. He also helped Jaswant Singh in the research and writing of his memoir A Call to Honour and later, the much-debated book on Jinnah, the founder leader of Pakistan. Later, Channan joined HCL and then Honeywell International as the Country Leader for Public policy where he was responsible for the government / regulatory impact on business strategy across all of Honeywell’s global strategic business groups in India.
