Lieutenant Commander Farokh Tarapore, VSM (Retd) has represented India for four decades in three Olympic Games and seven Asian Games since 1982 in the sport of Sailing and has won one Gold Medal, two Silver and two Bronze Medals at the Asian Games for India in three different classes of boats. He has won two World Championships and three Bronze Medals for the country. At the Asian Sailing Championships, he has won three Gold Medals, three Silver Medals and two Bronze Medals for the country in five different classes of boats. He is the only Indian to have won a total of 18 medals at the World Championship, Asian Games and Asian Sailing Championship for India in six different classes of boats. He has been rightly awarded the Arjuna Award and the Chhatrapati Shivaji Award too in the sport of sailing.
