Colonel Shashank Ranjan (Retd) has about 33 years
of experience in the Indian Army as an Infantry
Officer. He has served in active counter-insurgency /
counter-terrorism scenarios in Jammu & Kashmir and
in India’s North East. He has commanded two
battalions in Kashmir, as part of the elite Rashtriya
Rifles. The officer is currently teaching at Jindal School
of International Affairs, OP Jindal Global
University, Sonepat. He has published several papers
and is a regular columnist with India’s national dailies
like The Hindu, Hindustan Times, The Indian
Express, The Telegraph, Print etc. He writes on
security issues and is pursuing a Doctorate on 'Maoist
insurgency in Bastar'
through the Centre for Land
Warfare Studies (CLAWS), New Delhi.
