Trent Hone is a leading naval historian and defence
strategist specializing in organizational learning,
complexity science, and the evolution of military doctrine.
He is the author of Learning War: The Evolution of
Fighting Doctrine in the U.S. Navy, 1898–1945 and
Mastering the Art of Command: Admiral Chester W.
Nimitz and Victory in the Pacific. Mr. Hone has advised
the U.S. Navy, Department of Defense, and allied
institutions on operational innovation and command
structures, integrating systems thinking with historical
analysis to address contemporary strategic challenges. A
recipient of the Edward S. Miller Prize and the Ernest
M. Eller Prize, he currently serves as Vice President of
Technology and Product Innovation at ICF
