WHATSAPP GROUPS LIMERICK

Dear Course Mates, my lame attempt at limericks

WA groups at times make me wonder
Am I really enjoying it, or, am I making a blunder?
Sublime at times; at times, hail and thunder
Unifying no doubt, but also pulling us asunder
Is it even a worthy endeavour?
WA brings out our traits, black, white and grey
The cool cucumber, as also the firebrand, who jumps in every fray
Rip Van Winkle, who springs from deep slumber
And hits the ground running, to forward his target number
Quick gun Murugun who, without his stride breaking
Fast Forwards all that he gets (without reading), in a twinkling
The nocturnal chap who loves his tune and his tot
The Ad Nauseum repeater, reposting old wine in old bot
The Mass Mailer, ceaseless in his endeavour
To post all that he can, persistent as a beaver
Mr Testosterone, high on life, adrenaline surging
Disdainful of the laggard, who is loath to stirring
The unapologetic pondy man strives to titillate
Sends naughty forwards, keeps it up for his mates
The philosophers delivering sermons on the mount
The Know-It –All pundit, the political fount
Sharing joys and sorrows, achievements of coursemates,
Accomplishments of progeny, their fortunes and fates
Bountiful wishes of CMs on special dates
Poignant requiems of fallen mates
Make it absolutely worthwhile; wouldn’t miss it at any rate!
But there are those days when it’s open season
Everyone is out, shooting with his choice of weapon
The bewildering deluge of rapid exchanges
The thrusts, the parries, the feints and the lunges
Makes one seriously doubt one’s reason

That brilliant message that you so want to send
Has already been received from many a friend
So cease and desist,
And fight and resist,
Kill the urge and bring it to an end!
We know social media is messing our mind
Yet we press on relentless, inconsiderate and unkind
So dear friend of youth, dear thoughtless chum
Spare the onslaught of forwards, we are getting it in the bum
Here is a hope and a wish for the incoming New Year
May all of us be healthy, happy and in Good Cheer!
Let’s not treat the group as a dumping ground
Be gentle with one another, to ensure we are still around!!
