born on 06 Apr 1947 underwent schooling at the Mayo College, Ajmer. He followed the family tradition by joining the Indian Army and was commissioned into 4/3 GR in 1968. He has a rich and varied experience of various operational and counter insurgency areas, including the Siachen Glacier. He was the ADC to Lieutenant General Sagat Singh during the 1971 War, and was witness to the operations of 4 Corps. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Defence Studies, London and having walked from Ladakh to Arunachal in the Himalayas is a member of the Himalayan Club. He holds the Chhatrapati Shivaji Chair of Excellence awarded by the United Services Institution of India.
